Well...

California, United States
I'm a 40 something year old nana stumbling through life trying to find the right way to take care of a grandchild and myself and still retain some sense of humor.

2012... take it or leave it?

So what are your thoughts on 2012 so far? All I know is that it has been crazy at work! There is just not enough hours in the day to get everything done!.

Right now I have a bit of a cold. Hope that goes by quickly!

I have decided to take it easy on the swaps on Craftster. I still check it out everyday and admire the neat things people have been making but I'm just not feeling the swaps like I was a year ago. I think it's a different crowd and even when I try making some posts (which isn't that often) I feel like a ghost. It's like nobody sees me. I may just be acting like a baby but, whatever. I was an angel for a swap and worked really hard on the items I made and sent and then the person disappeared and didn't post pictures and the ones I took are stuff somewhere in T-mobile land because they won't load my picture gallery online. BOO!!!! I painted my first pair of shoes and this quittich paddle that I was really proud of! Another lesson learned. lol I am still going to do the Hoopla swaps because I have done those from the beginning and I enjoy making the hoops regardless that they don't get the reaction from the community that I hope for. (Again acting like a baby)  I want to do a couple of personal swaps with my internet friends on FB (which I met on Craftster, ironic huh? lol)

I am going to work on new items for my etsy shop, PixieFirefly. Some crochet items, jewelry and I want to make some old school coin purses and little wristlet purses. I have a bunch of fat quarters that are perfect for these items! I want to do some more embroidery too! I am currently working on a hoop for one of my friends who's pregnant. I am having a great time doing it because I am trying something different and creating a story for the character. I will post a pic when I am done.

I am also working at getting me together both mentally and financially. That's a hard one! I am trying to just craft things and cook instead of looking for deals on things. I love going out thrifting  (I got a real Coach Wallet once for $2.99!) and finding things for cheap or checking out sales or getting more crafting supplies. It doesn't seem like a large amount of money at the time but does add up. And god knows the car needs major work so the pennies are better put there!

Alijah is growing like a weed. She is getting so much smarter too. She is enjoying going to pre-school. She goes to a christian one and also enjoys when they go into the sanctuary. She did such a great job in her Christmas show. It was so much fun to see her sing! She is such a ham.

So, here are all the projects that are currently in progress in my bag:
1. Embroidery hoop for friends baby
2. embroidery hoop for friend I started many months ago
3. embroidery hoop for friends I stater more than a year ago right after they got married
4. crochet scarf for shop
5. crochet wash cloth for bathroom
6. crochet blanket for my bead
7. wristlet (gonna finish that today!)

and that's not including the dress I started for Alijah last year and everything else I stated and stashed in my corner! lol
Here are some items I do have pictures of that I have made.

I had a blast making these items!

Anywho. How are you guys? My many readers! How is your 2012 going so far? Anything exciting or new?

This is another thing I want to get better at... my blog!

Take care my friends!

Wow, since January

So I guess I thought I was gonna be better about keeping up with a blog. Guess not. lol A lot has been going on since I last posted. July 2nd I lost my job so I am currently looking for new employment. It's never good to loose a job but there are bright sides to that as well, which I won't go into. I am looking at medical assisting still and customer service since that is where most of my history lies. I have had a couple job interviews but there are sooo many applicants out there, it's tough. I only have about a year experience as a medical assistant.

Thanks to Troublet and her embroidery, (You can check out her awsomeness on craftster.org) I have been inspired to read The Tao of Pooh, however, I can not find a second hand copy and don't want to pay $15.00 for it. I did find the Te of Piglet though and have begun reading that. I'm going for that Zen state of mind!

The baby is growing so much and she is soo smart! She is defianately in her terrrible 2's grrr but she can still make me laugh. I love her to death! It's so funny how a two year old can have such a sense of humor.
I cleaned her room out yesterday and put up some butterflies on her wall. I love how they look. There is something about a butterfly, whenever I see they I get a happy feeling inside. It's kinda strange.

I can't believe what the weather has been this summer. It's not really felt like summer and yet it's already almost over.  Yesterday  afternoon one of my BFF's (not that I have many lol) took JahJah and I out for lunch. We went to Ruby's on the pier. It was nice to get out.

Tammy and JahJah It was super windy!

Watching for dolphins!

Missy luvs her peanut butter cup shake!

Mmmmm Nana's peanut butter shake. Can you believe this little girl totally over me and stole my spoon?
So, All Hallow's Eve is coming. Love that! I think I am gonna start putting my crafting mind to work and see what kind of groovy stuff I can make for that. I have been doing more embroidery these days, which I am loving. I am having a great time with it. It goes so quickly. You can find all sorts of stuff on the internet. Below is some of the stuff I have been up to lately.

I made her for a neighbor's new apartment. Am really proud of how clean she came out. I found a pic on the internet and changed it a little. Same with the one below it.

This one was my first. I made her for my dad's birthday. I used crayons to tint the fabric.

This I made for a Disney Swap a few months back.

The inside.

I am liking Mixed Media Art.
A little Marie Antoinette.

This is some of the jewelry I make.
These were for a loaded charm bracelet swap.

My one and only ATC which I had done for a swap on Swap-bot http://www.swap-bot.com/ Only to find out once it was received by the person I made it for it was a few centimeters to big...... What can I say. I had to look in wikipedia to find out what an ATC was.
 Waiting to Fly
I ended up using watercolor pencils and water on him but forgot to take a picture it seems.

This is the stuff I made for a Mexiacan kitsch swap on Craftster. Did I mention that it's an awesome site? So much fun!

There's some other stuff too but, hey, I don't want to get too crazy! Right now I am working on a Steampunk swap on Craftster.org. I'm having a good time working on the items. I hope my cool partner is going to enjoy them! I would post WIP pics but don't want to ruin the suprise.

Got a new picture of my babies from latime gracie was here.

My lovies!

So much to say, so much to do. I have tons of pictures I downloaded off the internet to embroider, so many ideas in my head to make things, more jam to make! And still...I need to find a job...
